Baume had been a well known name in the watch making industry for a long time. They first approach in this business in 1834. That year, the Societe Baume Feres was established. At that time, wrist watch was not invented. So the watch makers had a hard competition among themselves to create the best pocket watches. The Baume family designed enameled pocket watches; which had a huge market demand. So they decided to spread the business out to Switzerland and one member of the family, Joseph Celestin went to England in 1844. There he established a successful business which later spread to Australia and New Zealand. Some of his models were big hit, including Waterloo, Sirdar and Diviko.
Another member of the family, William Baume met Paul Mercier in 1912 at Geneva. Six years later, in 1918, they started a company together. Mercier was already a well known watch maker with an expertise in jewelry. So the combination between these two master watch makers made a significant change in the watch market when they created some of the advance models of that time. They won more awards for flawless quality. Soon they became one of the pioneering brands in the market. After the Second World War, they made some noticeable change in their production line. In 1965, the Baume and Mercier was owned by the Piaget and finally by Cartier in 1993. Both of these companies are well established in the market and the Baume and Mercier made some of its major production while working under them. Although, the company in now works under Cartier, the watches are sold by its own prestigious name.
The replica watches of this brand are sold very well because of the high price of the originals. These replicas can perform very well and can serve you for a long time as well as saving money for you.
